If your dog or cat is lost, the Council may have impounded it. Pets impounded will appear on this list after processing. Processing times may vary so if your pet is lost, you may want to check several times.
Claiming Your Pet
The refuge at Cicada Lane, Urangan operates by
appointment only (Call 4197 4244 or after hours 0417 789
911).
You can claim your pet by contacting the Health Regulation and Compliance Unit on the above number and quote the details shown on the list below.
Impounded animals are held for five days only then are sold, surrendered to refuge or put down.
Pets impounded more than three (3) times will be immediately deemed as Council property.
All dogs must be registered prior to release and sustenance fees must be paid prior to release.
Our pound does rehouse animals, if they are not claimed,
so if you are interested in adopting please phone the Animal
Control Section of the Council on 4197 4244 for further
details.
Costs
Registration: All dogs must be registered prior to release.
Whole Dog: $80.00
Desexed Dog: $35.00
Sustenance Fee: $15.00 per day
Impoundment Fee: $30.00 (Only applies if dog is not registered with the Council)
Relinquishment Fee: $35.00 (adult) $20.00 (pup)
